April 19 (UPI) — Best-selling author Veronica Roth has announced she has in the works two new books set in an alternate timeline for her dystopian Divergent universe.
“A new duology from #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth begins. The Sixth Faction publishes on 8th October, in hardback with special sprayed edges. Pre-order now,” publisher Harper Fire wrote on social media Saturday. “Book Two will follow in February 2027.”
Divergent was published in 2011 and followed by Insurgent in 2012 and Allegiant in 2013.
The trilogy was adapted as movies starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
Roth told USA Today her next two new books would not be sequels, prequels, spin-offs or new perspectives on stories she has already told.
Instead, they will be “an alternate universe of Divergent where Tris chooses a different faction.
“I think the question of ‘who is Tris without Dauntless’ is an interesting one,” she told the newspaper.
