March 24 (UPI) — Double Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali has joined the HBO drama, Task, for Season 2.
Deadline said Ali will play Eddie Barnes, a DEA agent, who crosses paths with Mark Ruffalo’s FBI Agent Tom Brandis in Philadelphia.
Season 1 show-runner Brad Ingelsby is returning to pen and executive produce the second season, but no story details have been revealed yet.
The first season saw Tom and his team investigating the violent robberies of drug stash houses by outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Tom Pelphrey played Robbie, one of the thieves. His character was killed in Season 1.
Season 1 followed Tom, a former Catholic priest, as he struggled to work for the FBI and raise Emily (Silvia Dionicio), his adopted daughter whose brother murdered his wife.
Ali is best known for his work in True Detective, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Moonlight and Green Book.
