March 9 (UPI) — Teyana Taylor, who recently secured a Golden Globe for her role in One Battle After Another, is also up for an Academy Award.
The actress, 35, portrays Willa’s (Chase Infiniti) mother in the film, which was inspired by a Thomas Pynchon novel.
She stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Wood Harris and Alana Haim.
The feature has received accolades from the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and BAFTAs and is also up for the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture.
But Taylor has starred in other well-known titles beyond One Battle After Another. Here are five more.
‘The Rip’
In The Rip (January), Taylor stars alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who portray a lieutenant and detective sergeant on a Tactical Narcotics Team, respectively.
Taylor, meanwhile, is a detective on their team, which uncovers a stash house full of money.
“She’s definitely the coolest one of the bunch. She’s cool, she looks good, got a good sense of humor. In this movie, everybody just wants to have a better life,” she told Netflix’s Tudum. “Everybody’s got their own things that they’re dealing with, and we’re all coping with our things differently.
Steven Yeun, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, Nestor Carbonell and Lina Esco also star.
‘Straw’
In Straw, Taylor plays a police officer who negotiates with Taraji P. Henson’s Janiyah during a bank stand-off.
The hold up happens when Janiyah, a single mother with a sick child, cannot cash her check.
The Tyler Perry film also stars Sherri Shepherd, Glynn Turman, Sinbad and Rockmond Dunbar.
“She’s just trying to survive, just trying to be a great mother to her daughter, and then the circumstances in her life cause her to be in this situation,” Perry told Tudum ahead of the film’s arrival on Netflix in June.
‘All’s Fair’
Taylor is Kim Kardashian’s mentee in the Hulu legal drama All’s Fair, which was given the green light for a sophomore season in November.
The Ryan Murphy series follows Los Angeles divorce attorney Allura Grant (Kardashian) and other women who run a boutique law firm.
“Fierce, brilliant and emotionally complicated, they navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets and shifting allegiances — both in the courtroom and within their own ranks,” an official synopsis reads.
Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash also star.
‘A Thousand and One’
The 2023 film saw Taylor portray a young mother who removes her son from foster care and starts over in Harlem.
The feature won the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Dramatic films at the Sundance Film Festival, and follows the mother-son duo over many years.
Aaron Kingsley Adetola, William Catlett, Aven Courtney and Josiah Cross also star.
‘The Book of Clarence’
The Book of Clarence is a biblical comedy helmed by Jeymes Samuel that arrived in 2023.
The film also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Michael Ward, Alfre Woodard, Caleb McLaughlin, James McAvoy, Nicholas Pinnock and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Taylor portrays Mary Magdalene in the feature.
