March 28 (UPI) — Netflix has shared on social media a first look at X-Men and Black Bag alum Michael Fassbender as Joe Kennedy Sr. in the streaming service’s upcoming series set in the 1930s.
“The new drama series, now in production, explores the lives, loves, rivalries and tragedies that shaped the most iconic dynasty in modern history,” Netflix said in a statement.
The series will be based on the book, JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956, written by Fredrik Logevall.
Sam Shaw is show-runner.
Laura Donnelly will play Joe’s wife Rose and mother of their nine children, which included political icons Teddy, John and Robert.
Interest in the family remains high.
FX and Hulu just wrapped the nine-episode Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which focused on the life and death of Joe’s grandson, JFK, Jr.
Another grandson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is currently serving as Health and Human Services Secretary in U.S. President Donald Trump’s second administration.
